THE MOOSE LEGION
Following
the foundation of the Loyal Order of the Moose in 1888, dedicated
Moose members searched for new ways to be of greater service to the
Order. Therefore, the “Second Degree,” or Moose Legion, was
established to provide greater opportunities for Lodge members to
serve the Lodge fraternity. More then a century later, the Moose
Legion remains a strong and growing arm of the Loyal Order
of Moose. It is comprised of thousands
of Moose members in every state and province who desire to elevate
their service and leadership skills in their Lodge and Moose Legion
jurisdiction. It is also a forum for members to direct and lead
special programs that support the fraternity’s three basic missions:
Community Service programs, Mooseheart
and Moosehaven.
Special social activities called Moose Legion Celebrations are
scheduled at various lodges within the jurisdiction of your Moose
Legion. These Celebrations serve as a means to share ideas and good
times with fellow Moose Legionnaires.
Also membership in the Moose Legion is a prerequisite to becoming a
member of the higher Degrees of the Order: The Fellowship Degree of
Honor and the Pilgrim Degree of Merit. Earning these advanced
Degrees is possible through recognized achievements
in the Lodge and Moose Legion.
The Moose Legion is the second Degree of our Order known as the
Degree of Service.
